How to Set Up Blogger Blog Custom Domain On/With Bluehost

After going through this issue situation myself and after going through series of blog looking for the best guide on how to set up or connect your blogger blog with a domain which you have recently bought on bluehost.

Yes, some of the blogs I visited had to stop half way, or just that since BLUEHOST change their blog looks recently, I think on the 20th of February, everything has changed.

But with this simple guide which am about to share with you, you can now host your bluehost blog on blogger blog using the guides below.

Follow the following steps to Host your Blogger domain name With Bluehost.

1. Log in to your account at BlueHost.

2. When you login, at the control panel, click on the “DNS Zone Editor” which can be found under the “Domains” section.

When the domain section loads up, you’ll be required to select the appropriate domain to which you want to host on blogger blog and add A records and CNAME records.

cname record

Please note that when It loads up, you’ll be required to add the appropriate A Records in the fields provided, as shown below.

You need to add the following 4 google IP addresses for the A Records to configure your Blogger Domain one-by-one :

ip address

After this, you’ll need to add the CNAME records, just select CNAME from the drop down menu and enter the details of your domain.

After doing that, In the Name field, add the name of your domain with www. In the CNAME field, write the following: for linking your domain with Blogger. Add an appropriate Time-To-Live in the TTL field.

Please ensure that you click on Add Record to save the new configuration.

Important Note:
Just in case you expect it to work that moment, according to blogger, it takes up to 12 –  48 hours to host your custom domain name on their platform. Also note that it may take some time for the new A records and CNAME records to take effect.

Once the changes have taken effect, you can proceed with setting up your blog on Blogger, by downloading the best blogger templates and setting up other needed stuffs.

I have used blogger in the past but after using WordPress, I won’t ever recommend anyone to use blogger.

haha, i won’t blame you, blogger is really strong on their TOS, and one thing that really makes me angry is that when they decide to delete one’s database, they always do it without even asking the blogger to move or backup his/her blog, however, Since everything on blogger is 100% totally free, you won’t blame him.

Thanks for this. I’m in the process of setting up a Blogger blog now, and I keep going back and forth about whether to do this or not. Is there any benefit to putting it on your own domain?

    • Reply Isaiah Joe March 4, 2014 at 3:06 pm

NO, but if you don’t have any money for hosting and you have a custom domain name, i think this will be the best option, but if you want to host it with blogger, you surely need to have backups, so as to ensure that you never get disappointed when blogger decide to delete your blogger blog database.
